Wes Hicks

Board Member, Rev. George L. Fox Memorial Chapel

Wes brings more than 30 years of hands-on experience in operations, energy services, and public safety to his role on the board. A lifelong Vermonter with a strong background in leadership, building trades, and emergency response, Wes retired this year after a diverse and impactful career.

He began his working life on a dairy farm, then transitioned into roles as a store and parts clerk, and eventually joined Irving Energy’s home heat division. Over his 25 years at Irving, Wes moved from driving trucks and servicing propane systems to dispatch and load-building, ultimately rising to Operations Manager, overseeing facilities in Littleton and Berlin. In the winter months, he managed teams of up to 32 employees.

In addition to his professional work, Wes served the town of Littleton, NH, for 16 years as a call firefighter and EMT. From 1995 to 2012, he rose through the ranks to become Deputy Chief and a certified staff instructor with the New Hampshire Fire Academy. He also specialized in confined space rescue and took numerous leadership and management courses throughout his career.

Wes’s connection to the Rev. George L. Fox Memorial Chapel is both personal and patriotic. His wife attended the Gilman church with her grandparents, and he holds deep admiration for military service, particularly the courage of the Four Chaplains. “These are the most heroic men I have ever heard of,” Wes says. “It’s an honor to help preserve their story.”

As a board member, Wes contributes significantly to the physical restoration of the chapel and grounds. His expertise in construction and maintenance has helped guide major improvement projects, including window replacements, ADA-compliant access and restrooms, electrical upgrades, and foundation repairs. From pressure washing and patching concrete to arranging tree removal and accessibility solutions, Wes has had a hand in nearly every corner of the renovation.

His goal is to ensure the chapel and museum not only preserve history but also remain a lasting part of the Gilman community. “I’m here to help however I can. Whether it’s construction, coordination, or community support—this project matters.”

Wes is based in Littleton, NH, and in his free time enjoys motorcycling, fishing, and gardening. In a surprising twist, he recently discovered—thanks to fellow board member Lisa—that he is actually related to the Fox family, making his involvement in the chapel’s mission even more meaningful.
