The Clear Path for Veterans New England Service Dog Program empowers Veterans to heal, reconnect, and rebuild their lives through the companionship and support of highly trained service dogs. Operating under the Wounded Warrior Service Dog Program, this initiative provides dogs that assist with both emotional and physical needs, helping Veterans navigate daily life with greater confidence and independence.
Our program encourages Veterans to engage socially, find renewed purpose, and overcome isolation by working directly with service dogs. Each year, we receive partial funding through the Henry Jackson Foundation Wounded Warrior Service Dog Program Grant, which helps make this life-changing work possible.
Service dogs not only transform the lives of Veterans but also benefit their families—improving home life, work productivity, and overall well-being. These dogs help manage symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances, enabling Veterans to stay active, employed, and engaged in their communities.
Raising and training a service dog requires dedication and significant resources—each dog costs approximately $30,000 and takes 12–18 months to complete training. Throughout this process, Veterans develop valuable skills such as communication, relaxation, and time management, while participating in public access and task-specific training designed for their unique needs.
Beyond training, the program fosters a powerful sense of community and peer support. Veterans form new friendships, share experiences, and find healing together through their connection with these incredible dogs.
