Supporting the Journey Home

Our History

Veteran Pathways of New England (formerly Clear Path for Veterans New England) (Veteran Pathways NE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2017, dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and respectful environment where Veterans can heal, reconnect, and thrive. Located on the historic Devens campus, Veteran Pathways NE helps Veterans seamlessly reintegrate into their communities through a holistic network of programs designed to restore purpose, foster connection, and build resilience. One of our proudest milestones is the Journey Home Capital Project, completed in 2020. This transformative initiative revitalized a historic 22,000-square-foot building that once served as a U.S. Army Headquarters and Hospital. The renovation expanded our capacity to serve the Veteran community, creating a vibrant hub for healing, wellness, and community engagement.

The newly renovated facility allows us to deliver a wide range of essential programs and services, including:

  • Community Meals & Events – fostering camaraderie and connection among Veterans and their families.
  • Wellness Services – addressing mental, emotional, and physical well-being through fitness, holistic therapies, and peer support.
  • Housing & Family Support – providing stability and assistance for Veterans facing housing insecurity or family challenges.
  • K9 Service Dog Training & Support – pairing trained service dogs with Veterans to enhance independence and improve quality of life.
  • Community Engagement & Volunteering – creating meaningful opportunities for Veterans and civilians to connect and serve together.

Our History

Veteran Pathways of New England (formerly Clear Path for Veterans New England) was founded in 2017 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and respectful environment where Veterans can heal, reconnect, and thrive. From its beginnings on the historic Devens campus, the organization focused on addressing the complex and evolving needs of Veterans across Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire through a community-centered, holistic model of care.

Over time, this work expanded beyond a traditional service model into a comprehensive system of support—integrating housing stabilization, wellness programming, food security, and community reintegration. This natural evolution laid the foundation for what is now known as Veteran Pathways of New England Inc. (formerly known as Clear Path for Veterans New England), a more structured, pathway-driven approach to supporting Veterans and their families.

A major milestone in this growth was the completion of the Journey Home Campus in 2020, transforming a historic 22,000-square-foot former Army facility into a central hub for Veteran services. This expansion significantly increased the organization’s capacity to deliver housing support, wellness services, community programs, and canine-assisted training—all within a unified environment designed for healing and connection.

As needs across the region continued to grow, the organization further evolved into a housing-first, data-driven system serving Veterans across multiple counties. By integrating federal and state partnerships and expanding service pathways, it became a regional leader in Veteran housing, stabilization, and reintegration.

Today, the Veteran Pathways of New England History reflects both legacy and forward momentum. The transition to Veteran Pathways of New England (formerly known as Clear Path for Veterans New England) represents not a departure, but a continuation—building on a strong foundation while creating a clearer, more scalable model of care.

Veteran Pathways of New England (formerly Clear Path for Veterans New England) built the foundation. Veteran Pathways builds the future.
